Yoga For Children With Special Needs

Come to this playful class where children can move energy through their bodies and bring calm into their minds. This class combines the use of music, breath techniques and yoga based movements to enhance language development, core strength, sensory integration, balance and self-esteem for a child with Special Needs. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Bring a yoga mat if you have one, otherwise, mats will be available for your use during class.

Dates: Classes will be held on Saturdays, beginning June 2, 2012.

Time: 11:15 AM-12:15 PM

Location: Complimentary Medicine and Healing Arts, 27 Jension Avenue, Johnson City, NY.

Cost: $10 per child.

Instructor: Casey Calvey

About the Instructor: Casey became a devoted Yoga practitioner about 4 years ago when health challenges urged her to make changes in her lifestyle. From the first class that she experienced, she knew that she wanted to become a Yoga Instructor. Casey has been teaching Yoga to both adults and children in the local area for the past 3 years and holds numerous certifications, including being certified in “Every Kid’s Yoga; Teaching Yoga To Children With Special Needs”.

Casey also has an extensive background as an Advocate for children and families who are involved in the Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Education Systems. She is the parent of a young man with disabilities and is passionate about sharing Yoga with people of all ages and abilities.
